Jaya Prada appears before court in MCC violation cases

Rampur (UP), Jan 4: Film Actress and former MP Jaya Prada on Wednesday appeared before an MP-MLA court in connection with two cases of violation of model code of conduct during 2019 Lok Sabha election where she was granted her bail after furnishing a bond of Rs 25,000, prosecution sources said here.


Prosecution sources said that two cases of violation of the model code of conduct against Jaya Prada are being heard by the special MP-MLA court. “As the former MP was not appearing in the court on the previous dates, the special court had issued an order to arrest her. The court directed Superintendent of Police (SP) Rampur to produce her before it,” they said.


Prosecution sources said that Jaya Prada appeared in the MP-MLA court around 10 am during which she was granted bail against arrest. “The court directed the former MP to furnish a bail bond of RS 25,000,” they said.
Jaya Prada’s counsel Sandeep Saxena said that she was granted bail after furnishing a bail bond of Rs 25,000. It may be noted that during 2019 Lok Sabha elections two cases of violation of model code of conduct were lodged against Jaya Prada.


In one case the film actress is accused of inaugurating a road in Noorpur village under Swar police station despite the model code of conduct being imposed. The case against Jaya Prada was lodged by the flying squad.
The second case related to an objectionable comment by Jaya Prada during a public meeting in Pipaliya village under Kemri police station.
