What can be best described as an administrative spark of surprise that the closest and capable private Secretary to the Odisha chief minister, V K Pandian (5T) has taken voluntary retirement from his services on Monday. It has obviously abandoned as a thrill for sll concerned in the corridors of power.
In a most surprising development Private Secretary to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and 5T Secretary V Karthikeyan Pandian took voluntary retirement from service.
Official sources here said the voluntary retirement request of Pandian has been approved by the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions.
Pandian was the target of the Opposition Congress and BJP in the state for attending public meetings and public grievances across the state on behalf of the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Both the BJP and the Congress leaders have taken strong exception of his role in the ruling Biju Janata Dal party affairs and asked him to quit the IAS job if he is so keen to do politics.
He was the longest serving secretary to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who was also serving as the 5 T secretary in the state
With the voluntary retirement of Pandian the speculation in the political circle heightened that being a close confidant of Chief Minister Navee Patnaik he would soon join in the active politics in the state.
Both the Opposition BJP and Congress have welcomed the voluntary retirement of Pandian and said his joining politics will not have much impact.
