Bhubaneswar, Aug 9 : A leopard died in a road accident on the main road near Mujagada village under Ghamsar North Forest Division in Odisha’s Ganjam district late Tuesday night.
Sources said the Leopard, around five years old, is suspected to have been hit by a heavy vehicle while crossing the road.
Some people informed the Bhanjanagar Police and the Forest officials near the area after they found the Leopard lying on the road with critical injuries and battling for life.
The wild animal was killed on the way to the nearest Veterinary hospital by forest officials.
Forest officials are conducting an inquiry into the incident.
A Forest official said that since no leopard has been sighted in the area for the last few years, it is suspected that the leopard might have come to the area from the forest in Kalahandi district.
