Thane: CM Shinde announces Rs 5 lakh in aid to deceased workers families
Mumbai, Aug 1 : Maharashtra State Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed grief on Tuesday over the unfortunate accident that occurred in the middle of the night when a crane collapsed on Samruddhi Highway in Shahapur’s Sarlambe village in Thane district, claiming 17 lives.
Shinde also announced an aid of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased workers and directed that the injured be treated immediately at government expense.
Today, the Chief Minister is in Pune on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s programme, and as soon as he heard the news of the accident, he spoke to the district administration and concerned officials and learned about the accident.
This accident is very unfortunate, and Shinde has also asked for a thorough investigation.
The Chief Minister spoke to Public Works Minister Dada Bhuse and immediately sent him to the accident spot.
The NDRF team has reached the place, and they have been given instructions to carry out rescue work properly. CM has also asked to take more precautions as it is rainy season.
The accident took place when the third phase of Samruddhi Highway was underway.
