Imphal, June 21 : Polo players of Manipur carried out a rally on Wednesday to demand a restoration of peace and protection of Manipur’s integrity.
The silent rally participated by both men and women polo players and horse riders began at the Manipur Pony breeding farm at Imphal and went around Lamphel, Uripok Thangmeiband spreading the message of love and oneness.
The Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association (MHRPA), Manipur Equestrian Association and Manipur Pony Society organised the rally.
President of MHRPA, H Dileep said Manipuri Pony has played a great role in protecting Manipur’s territory and it is an integral part of the history of Manipur.
He said the peaceful rally was taken out to seek restoration of peace in Manipur.
Meanwhile, the decision to start school on Wednesday was put off till July 1 as the situation in Manipur following clashes between two ethnic groups has not improved.
Curfew was relaxed for the day in the city areas except for some vulnerable areas from 5 am to 5 pm.
Internet remained suspended and the highway remained blocked at Kangpokpi.
