Bhubaneswar, Dec 14 : Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said that the transformation of villages has opened the door for the transformation of the entire Odisha.
Speaking after launching the bus service in Koraput district, under the Location Accessible Multi Modal Initiative (LAccMI), Patnaik said development has become a people’s movement and Panchayats emerging as the centre of development.
Under the scheme, 63 buses will link 234 Panchayats with the Blocks in Koraput district.
So far 1131 Panchayats in six districts spread over Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Gajapati and Koraput districts have been benifited under LAccMI scheme in the first phase.
Around 63 lakh people of these districts will now communicate easily at an affordable price as under the scheme, women, students and people with disabilities can travel from their villages to block paying only Rs 5.
The Chief Minister said a new awareness has come under the AMA Odisha Nabin Odisha programme in which the digital infrastructure has developed in the panchayats along with the promotion of Jaganath culture.
Speaking on the occasion 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman V K Pandian said the buses under the LAccMI scheme were procured with people’s money and requested people to protect these buses as their own property.
Transport Minister Tukuni Sahu said the LAccMI scheme will bring prosperity and sought the cooperation of all to make the Chief Minister ‘s strive to make Odisha the best state in the country.
