Odisha sizzles under an intense heat wave conditions
Bhubaneswar, June 16 : Odisha continued to reel under an intense heat wave conditions for
past few days with mercury rising over to 45 degree Celsius throwing normal life out of gear at
many places
The sizzling heat wave conditions coupled with high levels of humidity affected normal life in most parts of Odisha as the maximum day temperature hovered in between 40 to 45.6 degree Celsius in as many as 30 places of the state.
Sonepur with 45.6 degree Celsius was the hottest place in the state followed by Jharsuguda 45.4, Bolangir 45.3, Sambalpur 44.8, Angul 44.7, Hirakud and Bhubaneswar 44.6 each and Sundergarh 44.5 degree Celsius .
Capital city Bhubaneswar recorded a maximum temperature of 44.6 degree Celsius 9.7 degree Celsius above normal so also Phulbani with 41.5 degree Celsius registering 9.4 degree Celsius above normal and Jharsuguda with 45.4 reported 9.3 degree Celsius above normal .
Sambalpur, Angul and Baripada also recorded maximum temperature above 8.2 to 8.4 degree Celsius above normal.
As many as 12 places recorded a maximum temperature of 43 to 44 degree Celsius while 11
places recorded maximum temperature in between 40 to 42.4 degree Celsius.
Met office predicted that there will be no significant change in maximum day temperature in the
next four days and the heat wave conditions will continue to prevail in many parts of Odisha.
The weather office issued an orange warning for heat wave conditions in 15 districts and yellow warning for five districts for the next four days.
It cautioned the people not to expose themselves to heat and keep themselves hydrated by consuming enough water .
