Puri, Sep 4 : An alert police foiled the attempt of a self immolation bid by a man and his daughter on Monday in front of district magistrate office.
The duo were brought to the office of the superintendent of police and the Police recovered two bottles of petrol from them.
They were identified as Narayan Tarei, a daily wage earner and his daughter who lives on rent in Baliapanda slum under the Sea beach police limits.
Narayan narrated how his house owner drove them out and filed false complaints against him and his daughter with the police.
The daily wage earner said he had approached police a number of times. After he failed to get justice from the police he took this extreme step. The SP however,assured him to look into his case.
