Modi’s foreign jaunt before the 2024 elections has raised so many questions.

Among them the pivotal point is whether it is a routine foreign policy exercise or an electoral muscle flexing.

One normally gets to see during any of the gatherings there is always a hysteric cheering by the non-resident Indian ranting Modi..Modi and back home such cheers in the Indian news channels are more hysteric and overriding as an anchor usually says ‘ dekhiye Modi ji ki lokpriyata’,(see the popularity of PM Modi.

It may be a routine electoral stereotype stuff but it also appear to be a last leg effort to shine the little gloomed image of the PM for which the public exchequer gets drained to a good extent.

And most of such organizations who organize the events are somehow affiliated to the right wing outfits.

Earlier any visit by the PM to foreign countries were mainly bi-lateral but these days it is more an extravaganza manned by the non-resident populations settled abroad.

Any head of a nation heaps praises on the visiting dignitary which is a formal courtesy but now a days that is being seen as an yardstick of someone’s popularity which it is not but if it pays in an election then let it be.

Interestingly, it was reported that, Joe Biden asked for Modi’s autograph, secondly the Prime Minister of Papua New Ginia touched feet of Modi and last but not the least, the Australian PM addressed Modi as ‘boss’.

It can be mentioned here that ,according to a sttistics, since he became the PM, India has spent on Modi Rs 355 crore on foreign trips to 41 countries.
