Seoul, July 15 : Heavy rains in South Korea had left at least seven people dead, three missing and seven others injured, Yonhap news agency said Saturday citing relevant authorities.
According to the central disaster and safety countermeasure headquarters, two people were killed Friday following a building collapse, caused by a landslide in Nonsan, some 210 km south of Seoul.
Earlier in the day, one person died in a mudslide in the central city of Sejong, and another was killed by the collapse of a road slope in the central city of Cheongju.
Housing collapses killed two people in the southeastern county of Yeongju and one person in the central county of Cheongyang.
Three people remained unaccounted for after having been swept away by a torrent and a flood in the southeastern region.
Seven others were wounded by mudslides and the collapse of road slopes mainly in the central and southern areas.
The casualties were feared to rise further as the authorities had yet to determine the damage from two landslides in the southeastern region, by which a total of eight people were reportedly buried.
