Good news: Former Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee back home from hospital
Kolkata, Aug 9 : Former West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, who survived the mechanical ventilation support immediately after being admitted at a private hospital in the city on July 29 afternoon, returned home, accompanied by his wife Meera Bhattacharya, after being discharged from Woodlands Hospital on Wednesday.
” He is fit to return home with hospital’s -home care, ” the medics
told reporters.
Meera Bhattacharya came from their Palm Avenue flat in south Kolkata to take her 79-year old husband, who was insisting on returning home.
Former politburo member of CPI(M) was admitted with a lower
respiratory tract infection and Type 2 respiratory failure.
He had undergone mechanical ventilation support at least for two days following drop of his oxygen level considerably and some other complication owing to age-related ailments.
” Though his (Bhattacharjee) medical condition is fine, he will be on
BiPAP and other necessary oxygen support at home. The team of doctors will monitor his situation, as he has COPD and other age-related ailments,’ the medics said.
Woodlands Hospital will have its “home care” facilities at the Marxist leader’s flat with a state-of-art standby ambulance
and nursing staff for a month, the medics announced.
