Bhubaneswar, June 16 : Former Jajpur Lok Sabha MP Anadi Charan Das passed away at a private hospital here on Friday while undergoing treatment.
He was 88.
Family sources said Das was suffering from diabetes and was admitted to the hospital a few days back. His last rites would be performed at his native village Bijipur in Jajpur district.
Das was elected to Lok Sabha five times in —1971, 1980, 1984, on Congress ticket and in 1989 and 1991 on Janata Dal ticket from Jajpur Lok Sabha Constituency.
He joined the Congress again under controversial circumstances which saved the Narasimha Rao government on July 28,1993 in the no confidence motion.
During his long career as MP, Das was a member of various Parliamentary committees.
