The headlines above do not augur well for the occasion when the new year Sun pops up unto the horizon like a crescendo of newness and with novel inspirations.
It has become cyclic in the beginning of a year when within hours’ gap three have fallen victim to the dragging dragnet of a crushing destiny.
CCTV footage of a 20-year-old woman being dragged under the car has been recovered by a police team, which is probing the incident that happened in the Sultanpuri area on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
As per the CCTV footage, the silver coloured car, Maruti Baleno is seen making a U-turn in the Kanjhawala area and the body of the woman is visible under the vehicle on the left side.
The car had made the u-turn, which was captured in the CCTV camera at 3.34 a.m on Sunday, a little ahead of the Ladpur village towards Tosi village.
The woman died a painful death after her scooty met with an accident and her clothes got entangled in the wheel of the car due to which she was dragged for a few kilometres.
The woman’s clothes were torn in the incident, and later her naked body was found by the police. Her scooty was found around 12 kms from the spot.

Yet again, even as the outrage over the Delhi girl being dragged by a car continues, a similar incident has come to light in Uttar Pradesh.
The victim’s name is Pushpa, who worked as a clerk at a university. She went out to buy household items when the accident took place, where a woman riding a scooty was hit by a truck that dragged her body for 3 km.
The ghastly incident took place in Mawai Buzurg village of Banda district.
As per initial reports, the truck caught fire as the woman’s body got stuck in the chasis. Even the scooty of the victim was burnt to ashes.
Fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire and police are trying to get the victim’s body out of the truck.
A Day After
A third-year medical student was killed after being dragged for around 100 meters by an unknown truck in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur.
The body was recovered late on Wednesday. The victim was a pillion rider on a bike, which was being driven by her batchmate, who survived with multiple injuries.
The deceased was identified as Rubi Thakur, a resident of Shahdol district. She was pursuing her MBBS degree from Netaji Subhas Chandra Medical College, Jabalpur, the oldest government-run medical college in Madhya Pradesh.
Sources told IANS that Rubi and her male batchmate, Saurav Ojha, had gone to Bhedaghat, a waterfall area located around 35 km from Jabalpur district headquarters. While they were heading back towards Jabalpur, they were hit by a speeding truck.
Saurav Ojha, who is also pursuing his MBBS course from the same college, hails from Rewa district. He was admitted to a hospital in Jabalpur, and his condition was said to be critical.
Sources said that due to the impact, Saurav fell around 20 meters away, while Rubi’s clothes got entangled with the truck and was dragged for around 100 meters. Her body was found crushed on the road.
Nothing could have been more an inauspicious beginning of the calendar of 2023 besides nerve-wrecking news those send chills down the spines.
