Mumbai, Sep 29 : The Bombay High Court on Friday fixed on October 4 the hearing of a petition challenging the renaming of Aurangabad division, district and taluka by the Maharashtra government as Chhatrapati Sambhaijnagar.
Petitioner Mohammad Hisham Osmani challenged the state government gazette in this regard in the Bombay High Court,
During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel Advocate S S Kazi sought a stay.
The court decided to hold the next hearing on October 4 along with the earlier case of renaming of the city as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
Notably, the state government had published a Gazette to change the name of Aurangabad division, district, taluka to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on September 15 and the new name board was inaugurated on September 16 by the state chief minister during a special cabinet meeting here.
