What happened during the joint press conference in Washington is indeed worrisome for a community, that is journalists, that is being pushed to the wall for doing their work.
What was wrong in the question from the Wallstreet journo Sabrina Siddique? Not an out of the box nor it had any affront in essence. That is a worldwide concern over the unrests stemming from the minority and majority divide. Which has often equally pronounced in India as well where there is mammoth minority population and what the government of the day in India doing to mitigate the irritants spinning off from incidents and political narratives.
Joe Biden of course took the diplomatic route to ward off and played the DNA ring to answer to Sidduque’s question.
When the same question was asked to the Indian Prime Minister Modi, it did spark the jitters through the social media with an intent to harass the young journo.
Far from being direct, the Indian PM took the leaf from the American Prez’s answer to dwell upon the same DNA recourse and went far into the pasts of religious amity India is known for.
That was up to Modi what he said but what made some to harass the young lady through indecorous trolling is beyond any guess.
Are we not supposed to put questions to the Indian PM notwithstanding the fact that in last nine years the latter has not called any press conference .
The only respite is the one liner from the word ‘unacceptable ‘ that could emanate from the White House. That was a simple question to a nation head and not a note of dissent from Siddique .
For the Indian journalists sitting in India there is no such diabolic back lash since here so far no question is being asked to the PM and it is mostly the monologues those are the only way for the scribes here,
Instances of such kind of questions asked to other PMs in the past were many and the PMs concerned had exercised their wit to handle the questions and no such journo gets mentally annihilated for critical questions.
