Puri, Nov 30 : The laser scanning of the outer walls of Ratna Bhandar, which began on November 28 in the presence of core committee members, has been completed.
All 45 spots of the entire Ratna Bhandar wall were covered within two days.
The engineer and technical staff are now transferring the data from the laser camera to the computer, and all individual images will be processed and synchronised into a video.
The experts will examine the images to locate the weak points, damaged portions, and cracks by expanding the images on the computer screen.
The images were taken by a special laser camera having 150 mpix resolution with 3D effect, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) superintendent DB Gadnaik told media persons on Thursday.
If the report reflects the serious condition of the structure, laser scanning of the inner walls of the Ratna Bhandar will be conducted, he said.
For that, the ASI will write to the temple administration to obtain the NOC. This apart, laser scanning and documentation of other small temples (parswa devi debatas) located within the Srimandir premises will be taken up, he added.
Gadnaik had appraised Temple chief administrator Ranjan Kumar Das over laser scanning, documentation, the process of detection, the analysis of the images, and the tentative time period for submitting the report.
Since there was a huge rush of devotees during the entire Kartik month, the ASI gave scaffolding support to the cracked beam in Natamandop.
Now the ASI, he said, has been setting up adequate scaffolding to carry out repairs to the cracked beam. The repairs to the Natamandop will be completed before the coming Rath Yatra,Gadnaik said.
Temple chief administrator Ranjan Kumar Das said he had discussed with the ASI superintendent the laser scanning and the expected date for the report.
If the laser scanning analysis report shows damage, it will be placed before the high-level committee, Das said, adding that if necessary, the inner walls of Ratna Bhandar will be examined.
He said the temple administration will reschedule the devotees’ darshan timings to facilitate ASI to take up full-scale repair work on the Natamandop.
As directed by the Orissa High Court, the repair work will be completed before the Rath Yatra, he added
