Hardly a day has passed that the Biju Janata Dal commemorated late Biju Patnaik’s ‘jayanti’ and as a fitting tribute by the party in general and the chief minister, in particular, virtually, dedicated the occasion to Industrial and business promotion.
One thing can be remembered that Naveen Patnaik has been on the job the year round and this ‘Jayanti’ also was crowned by noticeable features related to the above two aspects taking miles ahead from where legendary Biju Babu had left.
The redeeming feature is the creation of the basic infrastructure which gives Odisha a robust identity as a big destination for investment from outside and from home, obviously knitting dreams for larger employment.
With a record 130 Mt rice production, now Odisha has emerged as a surplus state in exports. There is a sea change since Patnaik took over the reins of the state as can be evident from that, the state Budget got a whopping increase from Rs 11,800 cr to Rs 2,30,000 crore.
Thus the per capita income from Rs 12,400 to Rs.1,50,000. Higher and elementary education, health, drinking water, and agriculture ans women self-reliance has got a significant impetus.
One thing is for sure that, in many of his performances he has always got appreciation from his party and from the opposition as well.
It cannot be lost sight of that Naveen Patnaik has all along remained a quiet achiever and that is the salient feature of his style of function. A man who takes tirades and accolades with a very cool bearing.
