Hyderabad, Nov 10 : Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, South Central Railway (SCR), flagged off the 1000th Electric locomotive of SCR named ‘SAHASRASHV’ and dedicated the loco to the service of vibrant and green India on Friday at the Electrical Loco Shed (ELS), Lallaguda.
P D Mishra, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, K Thourya, Chief Electrical Locomotive Engineer, Bhartesh Kumar Jain, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division, and other officials were also present.
South Central Railway has etched a new milestone in its journey of serving people with pride.
The ‘SAHASRASHV’ locomotive is a symbol of the zone’s dedication to Mission Life and Sustainable Development Goals.
Accordingly, the locomotive is equipped with a modern, state-of-the art IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors) propulsion system, which gives it regenerative braking capacity. This feature alone saves around 12.4 percent of electrical energy, along with other benefits like saving 0.976 kilo tons of coal per year per locomotive and reducing the carbon footprint by 2.362 kilo tons of CO2 (e ) per year per locomotive.
Speaking on the occasion, the general manager congratulated the SCR team for reaching this commendable milestone. He advised officers and staff to continue the same efforts so as to further improve the standards of sustainable development on Indian railways.
