Ollywood Star Anubhav Mohanty’s Marital Saga Comes to a Close: High Court Grants Divorce on Grounds of Non-Consummation

Bhubaneswar: After a protracted three-year legal battle, the tumultuous marital discord between Ollywood star-turned-politician Anubhav Mohanty and actress Varsha Priyadarshini reached its conclusion on Thursday. The Orissa High Court granted separation based on the grounds of ‘non-consummation of marriage,’ ending a chapter marked by legal complexities and public scrutiny.

Anubhav’s lawyer, Lalitendu Mishra, revealed, “Our main point, non-consummation, which was rejected by the family court, was accepted by the High Court. The court analyzed the evidence of both parties and pronounced the judgment that both should get divorced.”

The divorce petition had initially faced dismissal in the lower court. In September, the Cuttack family court rejected Anubhav’s divorce plea against Varsha, who concurrently had a petition for the restitution of conjugal rights dismissed by the court.

The celebrity duo had tied the knot in 2014 in a lavish ceremony at a star hotel in Bhubaneswar. However, in 2020, Anubhav Mohanty, also an MP, filed for divorce in a Delhi court, citing the absence of a physical relationship between the couple even after six years of marriage.

The case was later transferred to the family court in Cuttack after Varsha approached the Supreme Court seeking the relocation of the legal proceedings. In August 2020, Varsha had also filed a domestic violence case against Anubhav in a court in Cuttack, further complicating the legal landscape.

The Orissa High Court’s recent decision brings an end to a prolonged legal battle, offering resolution to a highly publicized and scrutinized marital discord involving two prominent figures in the Odia entertainment industry.
