PM Modi Lays Foundation for Semiconductor Facilities, Pledges India’s Commitment to Self-Reliance

Feature: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized India’s commitment to becoming a semiconductor manufacturing hub, asserting that when India commits, it delivers. Modi made these remarks while virtually addressing the public after laying the foundation stone for three semiconductor facilities valued at approximately Rs 1.25 lakh crore. The projects, two located in Gujarat and one in Assam, mark a significant step towards India’s technological advancement and economic growth.

In his address, Modi hailed the occasion as a historic milestone, underscoring its importance in paving the way for a brighter future. He highlighted the significance of ‘Made in India’ semiconductor chips, stating that they will propel the nation towards self-reliance and modernization.

Modi reiterated India’s resolve to fulfill its promises, both to its citizens and on the global stage. He emphasized the efficacy of democracy in delivering results, particularly in endeavors aimed at enhancing India’s technological capabilities.

Addressing the failures of previous administrations, Modi contrasted the commitment of his government to invest in semiconductor development with the alleged corruption and mismanagement of past regimes. He asserted that despite the promises made by earlier governments, they failed to prioritize investments in crucial sectors such as the semiconductor industry.

The three semiconductor projects inaugurated by Modi include India’s first Fab facility located in Dholera, Gujarat, along with Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facilities in Sanand, Gujarat, and Morigaon, Assam. These initiatives are poised to revolutionize India’s semiconductor ecosystem, positioning the country as a global leader in the field.

The launch of these facilities underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering indigenous innovation and bolstering India’s manufacturing capabilities. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and strategic partnerships, India aims to reduce its dependency on imports and emerge as a self-reliant powerhouse in the semiconductor sector.

As the projects progress, they are expected to create employment opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and contribute significantly to India’s journey towards technological self-sufficiency. With a firm resolve to capitalize on India’s immense potential, PM Modi’s vision for a semiconductor manufacturing hub reflects the nation’s aspirations for a prosperous and technologically advanced future.
