Super Star Rajinikant Meets TN Guv, Says No Intention To Enter Politics

Chennai, Aug 8 : Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth today met Tamil Nadu
Governor R.N.Ravi and said he discussed politics with him, even as he
reiterated his stand that he would not enter politics in future.
Talking to reporters outside his Poes Garden residence after a nearly
30-minute meeting with the Governor at Raj Bhavan, the actor termed
the meeting as a courtesy call.
“I spoke for about 25-30 minutes with him. He had spent the majority
of his time in the north….he loves Tamil Nadu and the people here. The
Governor likes their (Tamils) hard work and honesty. Most importantly,
he is most impressed by the spiritual consciousness here.”, Rajini said.
“The Governor said he was ready to do anything for the welfare of Tamil
Nadu,” he added.
Rajinikanth said he did discussed politics with him, but refused to disclose
the details. ”It cannot be revealed now”, he said.
To a question, Rajini said he has no intention to enter politics in future.
In the run up to the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Rajini had
confirmed his entry to politics on the 2018 New Year eve and that his
party would contest all the 234-seats in the State. Even the BJP made
efforts to get his support for the polls.
However, before the elections, Rajini went back on his promise and
said he was not entering politics, citing health reasons and the COVID
pandemic.
Rajini refused to make any comment when asked about the imposition
of the Goods and Services Tax on essential items such as packaged
milk and curd.
“No comment”, was his terse reply.
