6 stray dogs poisoned to death in Bhubaneswar; FIR registered

In a gruesome act of brutality, an FIR has been lodged in Odisha capital over alleged poisoning of six canines at Labour colony at Chandrasekharpur. The incident has triggered massive outrage among the locals who were regularly feeding the dogs as well as other animal lovers in the Capital City.

The alleged act of animal cruelty sparked widespread condemnation from several animal rights activists in Bhubaneswar and elsewhere in the State.

People For Animals (PFA), a registered Animal Welfare Organisation, and local animal lovers lodged a written complaint at Maitrinagar police station in this regard and sought stringent action against those responsible for it.

However, this is not the first instance of cruelty against animals being reported from the city. A dog was allegedly burnt alive by a woman near Budheswari Temple under Laxmisagar police limits in January last year. A man allegedly shot dead a stray dog and injured another after they killed some of his chickens in Jagamara area the same month.
