Group clash after car parking dispute at cinema hall premises in Bhubaneswar

Odisha: Clashes broke out at a cinema hall complex in Bhubaneswar late Saturday night following a dispute over car parking. Initially there was a fierce argument between the two groups, which later turned into a fight.

According to information, some members of a family and another group of youths had come to watch the film at Maharaja Cinema Hall. Although there was only a small parking space left on the hall’s premises due to the crowd, both groups wanted to park their cars in the same spot.

According to the video footage, a girl was seen sitting on top of a car and started banging on the bonnet of the car, which reportedly enraged the protesting group. Following this, the girl was pulled down from the car, which led to a scuffle between the members of both the groups.

Soon a large number of people gathered on the spot. Road connectivity was disrupted on the National Highway near the cinema hall for about half an hour following the unrest. Due to heavy rush many vehicles got stuck on the road.On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took several members of both the groups into custody. As per reports, there is a serious shortage of space in the premises of the cinema hall and this situation often leads to heavy crowding in the area causing inconvenience to other passengers. The cinema hall officials could not be contacted regarding the incident.
