Eid-ul-Fitr/Akshay Tritiya celebration in Marathwada region
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Apr 22: Eid-Ul-Fitr is being celebrated on Saturday with pomp and fervour across in the eight districts of Marathwada region of Maharashtra.
Wearing traditional dresses , a large number of Muslims attended main prayers at Idgah Maidan in cantonment and other several masjids and dargahs in and around in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city.
After the prayers, people were seen hugging and greeting each other on their return from Eidgah.
Leaders of different walk of life, political parties and other personalities greeted the Muslim community on the occasion.
Reports reaching from other districts said that the festival was being celebrated with traditional gaiety and piety across the region.
In view of recent clashes between two group in the city on the eve of Ramnavmi, elaborate security arrangements have been made by police around all the mosques , dargahs as well as several points in city to avoid any untoward incident during the prayer, police sources said.
Maharashtra state governor Ramesh Bais, chief minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy chief minister Devendra Fadanvis among several top leaders from the state greeted the Muslim community on the occasion of Ramzan Eid.
Meanwhile, ‘Akshaya Tritiya’ is one of the most holy and auspicious days out of three and half Muhurat is also being celebrated by the Hindu community across in the country.
Today is also Mahatma Basaveshwar Jayanti and Bhagwan Parsuram Jayanthi.
On this occasion several programmes were organised across the city and region.
