Bhubaneswar, Nov 30 : In a significant development, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), a flagship unit of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has forged a pioneering contract for the installation of a state-of-the-art 1000 Tonnes Per Day (TPD) oxygen plant.
The comprehensive contract was signed with M/s Linde India Limited on Wednesday in presence of RSP Director In-Charge Atanu Bhowmick.
This initiative marks the first-of-its-kind collaboration within SAIL, utilizing the innovative Construct, Operate, and Maintain (COM) framework.
Under the terms of this groundbreaking agreement, a specialized entity will be responsible for constructing, operating, and maintaining the cutting-edge oxygen plant within the Rourkela Steel Plant premises.
This strategic move will significantly enhance the steel plant’s self-sufficiency and contribute to the regional and national oxygen supply.
The 1000 TPD Oxygen Plant is a critical addition to SAIL’s production infrastructure, designed to meet the growing demand for medical and industrial oxygen.
It comes in the wake of increased awareness of the importance of oxygen supply, especially during times of crisis such as the recent global health challenges.
