After unveiling the bike in November 2022, Gujarat-based Matter has finally given its first electric bike a name – Aera. It is available in multiple variants called Aera 4000, Aera 5000 and Aera 6000.
The Matter Aera has priced at Rs 1.44 lakh for the Aera 5,000 variant and the higher-spec 5,000+ variant costs Rs 1.54 lakh (ex-showroom, India. Note that this price does not include the state subsidies.
The Aera will be available in four variants in the future but only two of those are currently on sale.
While it is quite expensive in the electric motorcycle segment, it does come with some premium hardware including a liquid-cooled battery and motor, and a manual gearbox along with a bunch of interesting features.

On the feature front, the Matter EV gets a TFT screen to toggle around the essential data like range, speed, trip meter, odometer, battery level, ride modes, smartphone connectivity, and more. The console gives you access to navigation, calls/message alerts, as well as riding statistics. Further, Matter has equipped the bike with OTA, keyless operation, and a small storage unit.
Its hardware comprises conventional telescopic front forks and dual rear shocks. Meanwhile, the braking hardware comprises a single front and rear disc with ABS/CBS. It rides on 17-inch alloys wrapped in road-biased tyres.
Matter Aera electric bike: price, future plans
The Matter Aera price in India is set at Rs 1.44 lakh and Rs 1.54 lakh, for the 5000 and 5000+ variants, respectively. The company offers 3 years warranty on both the battery pack and the Aera. Whether the charger is included in the price hasn’t been revealed at the moment.
Matter Energy claims its first experience centre will open in Ahmedabad in the next 45 days. It aims to open 20 dealerships across the country in the next three months. Furthermore, by the end of this year, that number will grow to approximately 100, claims the Ahmedabad-based start-up.
The pre-orders fro the bike is currently available only in tier-1 cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Pune and Chennai, and others. Bookings will open for the Matter Aera within the next 30 days. The deliveries would likely begin in summer.
