Walk Down The Hot Tracks Of The Country
By- D. N Singh
This time it is one of the most severe heat wave condition which has been witnessed in last one century, perhaps. It is not about comparisons in between states but the heat this time is a killer one.
Its onset was early this year and it has left a long trail of its rage affecting every aspects of life.
It has even ripped through the coolest regimes where glaciers always were thought to be safe.
But they too have started melting down and there are quite a few instances reported about death of polar bears.
In India, this time the forecast by the Met about an early monsoon has proved wrong. Only by June end this year the nature may smile back on us.
Till that time the brunt of nature’s wrath has to be tolerated.
When one takes a look at the country’s desert regime in Rajasthan, the plights are so dismaying. Where, according to one opinion the climate is hottest in last one hundred and twenty two years. It has threatened everything there under the sun, wildlife, crops and the plummeting water levels in dams and rivers. Employment was impacted already due to the pandemic but it has worsened further. Unending queues for water walking down blistering and cracked landmass, speak volumes.
