Odisha: Sonepur Hottest City In India On Thursday
Bhubaneswar, apr 14: Severe heat conditions turned most districts of Western Odisha into a hot cauldron. On Thursday the temperature of Sonepur dist. soars up to 44.2 degree Celsius, to record the highest maximum (day) temperature for any place in whole of India.
As per the regional centre of Meteorological Department (IMD) here in Bhubaneswar, at 16 places in the State today, mercury surged above 40 degree Celsius mark.
There will be no large change in the maximum temperature (Day Temperature) during the coming 5 days over the districts of Odisha, said the MeT. The maximum temperature is likely to be more than 40 degree Celsius and above normal by 2 to 3 degrees at many places over the districts of interior Odisha during the next two days.
The top 10 hottest places of Odisha on Thursday are like: Sonepur: 44.2; Bolangir: 42.8; Baripada: 42.5; Jharsuguda: 42.2; Talcher: 41.8, Angul: 41.7; Sundergarh: 41.5; Sambalpur: 40; Bhawanipatna & Nayagarh: 40.5; Balasore & Chatrapur: 40 degree celcius.
Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded the maximum temperature of 37.7 and 38.4 degree Celsius, respectively.
