Odisha: 16 Places Below 10 Deg C, Daringbadi 6th Coldest
Bhubaneswar, Jan 30: Odisha, still in grip of cold wave. The mercury plummeted to 5.3 degree Celsius at Similiguda, which was the coldest place in the state on Sunday morning, followed by Phulbani and Kirie at 6.2 degree Celsius, Keonjhar at 6.4 and G. Udaygiri at 6.5 degree Celsius.
Daringbadi, the Kashmir of Odisha, recorded 7 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature dipped below 10 degree Celsius at 10 other places- Jharsuguda (7.6), Sonepur (7.9), Boudh (8.5), Bhawanipatna and Koraput at 9 degree Celsius, Nuapada and Mahisapat at 9.4 degree Celsius, Balangir (9.5), Hirakud (9.6) and Ranital (9.8).
The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre had earlier said that the night temperature will be 3-5 degrees Celsius below normal at many places in the next two days as northwesterly dry and cold winds are entering the state.
It had issued yellow warning for one or two places Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Bargarh, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Angul and Keonjhar till 8.30 am on January 30.
One or two places in Jharsuguda, Balangir, Bargarh, Nuapada, Sonepur, and Kalahandi are likely to experience the winter chill during the subsequent 24 hours.
The minimum temperature will remain below normal at most places in the state during this period and witness a gradual rise by 2 to 3 degree Celsius in the subsequent three days, it added.
