Nor’wester To Trigger Heat At Costal Belt: IMD, Odisha
Apr 20: The Regional Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here in Bhubaneswar, today forecasts a nor’wester Sea-wind likely to trigger heat-wave at coastal districts of Odisha till April 22.
The weather office also said nor’wester will cause a rise in humidity at coastal belt and vice-versa. The stormy weather is expected to bring much-needed relief for people of the State reeling under sweltering heat.
Temperature in many places of interior pockets of the state will remain above normal by 3 to 4 degree Celsius in the next 24 hours. The temperature will be high between 11 am and 3 pm. The weather department has asked people not to venture out of their homes during the period.
On Tuesday, nor’wester rains wreaked havoc in Kalimela area of Malkangiri district. Strong gusty winds accompanied by heavy rains left behind a trail of destruction in the region.
