In the middle of a full meeting in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, the BJP MLA from Unnao Sadar identified as Pankaj Gupta was slapped in a public gathering by an old farmer.
He was quickly apprehended by the cops and removed from the stage. On social media, a video of the incident has gone viral.
An elderly farmer approached the stage with a stick in his hands, as shown in the video. The farmer leaned up close to the BJP MLA on the stage and slapped him.
MLA Gupta, on the other hand, claims that no such incident occurred.
According to a report by the NDTV, “A farmer leader slapped BJP MLA Pankaj Gupta at a public gathering organised by BJP MLA Pankaj Gupta,” the party tweeted in Hindi. This slap was directed at the BJP-led Yogi Adityanath government’s terrible policies, governance, and dictatorship, not at the MLA.”
“You’re claiming it was just a gesture out of kindness, but isn’t that sending the wrong message?” a reporter asked the old guy in another footage of the press conference.
“I didn’t strike him. I just approached him and asked him a question, addressing him as “Beta (son).”
The MLA then steps in to intervene “The fact of the issue is that the opposition has twisted the incident for political gain. They aren’t having any problems. Farmers are opposed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they want to show. He (the elderly man) reminds me of my father. This was something he used to do before.”
MLA Gupta, according to reports, visited Aira Bhadiar in Makhi on Wednesday. On the occasion of Shaheed Gulab Singh Lodhi Jayanti, a programme was held there, and MLA Gupta was present there.
