UP: Zeeshan Haider Expelled From Congress
Lucknow, March 11: Congress leader Zeeshan Haider has been expelled from the party for six years on charges of indiscipline.
Zeeshan Haider, the convener of the electronic media and Urdu press department in the party, had questioned the party leadership for the defeat in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. He had held Congress general secretary and state in-charge Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s personal secretary Sandeep Singh responsible for the defeat.
The party’s disciplinary committee issued a statement on Friday evening saying that it has come to its notice that through social media and newspapers, Haider has made derogatory remarks against the party leadership which amount to indiscipline. That is why he is expelled from all party posts and expelled for six years. Significantly, under the leadership of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress got only two seats in the UP assembly elections, whereas in 2017 the party had won seven seats. After the crushing defeat, there is a lot of restlessness among the Congress workers and office bearers.
