UP Polls: PM Appeals Voters To Exercise Their Franchise
New Delhi, Feb 10 : As the first phase of polling for the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha started on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to voters of the state to come out in large numbers and exercise their franchise while following the Covid protocols. Voting is underway for 58 Assembly constituencies in the first phase of UP Assembly elections, where 623 candidates are in the fray. In a tweet, the PM wrote, “Today is the first phase of UP Assembly elections. I appeal to all the voters to come out in large numbers and participate in this festival of democracy by following Covid protocols.”
Meanwhile, Union Ministers, BJP president Jagat Prakash Nadda and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi also took to twitter, and appealed people to exercise their right for a better future. “I appeal to brothers and sisters to come out in large and cast their votes to elect a government which will give you security, good governance and development,” Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in a tweet wrote, “I urge all the voters to exercise their franchise and become a partner in the creation of new UP “. Taking to Twitter, Nadda wrote “Today you have the golden opportunity to maintain the progress and prosperity of the state. I request all to exercise their right.” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a tweet wrote, “Free the country from all fear. Come out and exercise your franchise.”
