This Election Is Of Brotherhood Versus BJP: Akhilesh
Shamli (UP), Feb 2 : Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election is that of brotherhood versus Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Addressing a joint press conference with Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) president Jayant Chaudhary here, Akhilesh said, “This election is that of brotherhood versus BJP. I say so as the people want to remove negative politics. They want to remove those doing politics with a negative mindset.” He said no leader has ever been insulted by the people the manner in which BJP and its leaders are being insulted.
“Reports are being received that the BJP leaders are facing the angst and insult of the people at several places,” he said. Akhilesh also took a dig at the Union budget presented in the Parliament on Tuesday. “BJP people are saying it is a budget of ‘Amrit Kaal’ (nectar period). They are calling it an ‘Amrit’ budget. Do previous budgets were poison? BJP people think that they can mislead people by playing with the words,” he said. He said the central government has made diamonds cheap in the budget. “How will it help the poor people? They have reduced the prices of footwear. In reality, the footwears of the people have worn out, but the BJP government has not been able to resolve any of their problems,” he said.
The SP chief reiterated his poll promises of 300 units electricity to domestic consumers, to restore the old pension system and free electricity to the farmers for irrigation. “We will also create a farmers corpus fund’ for payment to the farmers,” he said. He announced that a new express-way will be built between Kairana in Shamli district to Lucknow to facilitate transportation. “If needed we will also construct running tracks at village level to promote athletes,” he said. Akhilesh said the Election Commission should take notice of the language being used by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. “This is not the kind of language to be used by the CM. He is angry because he failed to get a ticket from his favourite seat, because the Prime Minister made him walk and the party has sent him home. In fact he is not even a member of the BJP,” he said.
Speaking on the occasion RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary said those who are contesting polls in the name of Jinnah, Aurangzeb and Pakistan will face humiliating defeat in the ensuing elections. “Our slogan and resolve is the same ‘Ganna Jitega, Jinnah Harega’ (cane will win, Jinnah will get defeated). We have forged the alliance to bring practical and positive change,” he said. Jayant said in the Union budget there is nothing for the farmers, youths and job creation. “They have reduced the budget of MGNREGA and several other schemes and reduced man days from 51 last year to 44 years in this document,” he said.
