SP MLA Subhash Rai joins BJP
New Delhi, Jan 24: Samajwadi Party MLA from Jalalpur of Uttar Pradesh Subhash Rai joined the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) at the party’s headquarters on Monday.
Welcoming Rai to the party, BJP’s Uttar Pradesh unit president Swatantra Dev Singh said Rai had been a member of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in past and this is his “Ghar Wapsï” (home coming) or return to the party.
He said Rai’s joining will strengthen the party in Amedkar Nagar district, and rest of the state as well. On Sunday, BJP MLA from Fatehabad, Jitendra Verma had joined the Samajwadi Party after being denied ticket by BJP.
Several BJP MLAs, including former UP ministers Dara Singh Chauhan, Dharam Singh Saini and Swami Prasad Maurya, have joined the SP in recent days. Meanwhile, Mulayam Singh Yadav’s daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav also joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on January 19. Elections to the 403 assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases starting February 10.
