UP Polls: BJP Announces Star Campaigners For 1st Phase; Maneka Gandhi, Ajay Teni Excluded

New Delhi, Jan 19 : Bharatiya Janata Party BJP, on Wednesday released the list of 30 leaders who will campaign in the first phase of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name included at the top of the list. Party President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Raj Nath Singh, CM Yogi Adityanath names were also mentioned in the star campaign list.
MoS for Home Ajay Misra Teni’s name is missing from the list. He has been in controversy after his son was named as the accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case.
Maneka Gandhi and his son Varun Gandhi’s name was also missing from the list.
Varun Gandhi was vocal about the farm protests against the three agri laws and questioned the Center several times over the issue.
Interestingly, both were dropped from the BJP national executive committee in the recent rejig.
The others on the list include Swatantra Dev Singh, Unions Ministers, Dharmendra Pradhan, Smriti Irani, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Dinesh Sharma, Keshav Prasad Maurya. Radha Mohan Singh and Sanjeev Balyan.
Earlier, the BJP had announced the name of 107 candidates for the first and second phase.
Elections to the 403 assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases starting February 10.
The polling in Uttar Pradesh will be held on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, and March 3 and 7 in seven phases. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
