Puducherry, Feb 21: A 26-year-old youth, hailing from Bengaluru, drowned in the sea here on Sunday evening. According to police, the deceased Vinayak along with eight of his friends came to Puducherry yesterday and after visiting several areas they came to the beach last evening.
All went inside for a sea bath located in front of the Chief secretariat here and Vinayak was dragged away by a huge wave. On hearing the screams of his friends, people from the nearby area tried to save him but in vain. On information, the Grand bazaar police along with fire service personnel came to the spot and conducted a search for him. After some time they dragged him out of the sea. He was rushed to the government general hospital here where doctors declared him brought dead. Grand bazaar police registered case.
