Under ‘Mumkin’ Scheme 800 E-Rickshaws To Be Launched In Jammu City
Jammu, Feb 5: As a part of Smart City Project the Jammu and Kashmir administration will be launching 800 e-rickshaws in the Jammu city to make youth self-reliant under ‘Mumkin’ scheme. “In a phased manner, about 800 e-rickshaws will be launched in the Jammu city and in the first phase, 200 are being introduced in March,” an official of Jammu Smart City Project Limited (JPCL) told UNI.
He said the idea behind introducing e-rickshaws is not only to decongest the city from traffic but also to make youth self-reliant under the ‘Mumkin’ scheme. “The government will also be facilitating with subsidies to those interested,” he said, adding that once introduced, the facility will also be a boon for travellers who earlier used to spend hefty amounts on travelling. Minimal charges have been fixed for a distance between two kilometres to 10 kilometers, he said. “E-rickshaws will begin in the month of March and many unemployed youngsters have come forward and applied to avail the benefit under the scheme,” said an official. The e-rickshaws will operate in the main areas of Jammu city, he said.
