Tripura Police Launches Mobile Bio-Toilet For Its Field Duty Personnel
Agartala, Jan 15: To facilitate the female police personnel especially engaged in traffic management in the city, Tripura police has launched a Mobile Bio Toilet on Saturday to serve round the clock as part of the celebration of Police Week.
According to police officials, over a hundred female police staff have been doing outdoor duty everyday at least for six hours but they don’t have adequate provision of toileting except for a few places in the heart of the city.
As a result, besides the staff concerned, Police force as a whole faces inconvenience in performing duty.The police and security personnel have also faced trouble even during the security duty on the roads, VIP programmes and special mobilisation in and around the capital city where arrangement of toilets even for the male personnel are not found suitable for long, which promoted the authority to introduce mobile bio-toilet separately for men and women, officials stated.
The Director General of Police V S Yadav said that the need for a Mobile Bio-Toilet was felt long back but was not materialised. However, a requisite fund was sanctioned from the Road Safety component of Transport Department.
At present this will somehow be able to cater the daily requirement in the city including serving the special programmes, he opined adding that few more would be added for other parts of the state.
“There are two separate units inside the Mobile Bio Toilet Van – one to be used by men and another to be for women. It has an overhead water tank, a Bio Toilet tank with the digester, wash basin, stainless steel commode, exhaust fans inside the vehicle,” the police release said.
The lights and fans would function on solar energy. The interior has been designed in such a way that there is enough light and flow of air to keep it hygienic inside. It will be placed at convenient points in the city and will move as per requirement, it added.
