Tripura Family Seeks Intervention Of CM To Rescue Abducted Minor Girl

Agartala, Jan 21: The helpless parents of 16-yr-old Meher Kabir, a student of Class-X who went missing on January 17 on her way back home in the evening from private tuition in Aralia village in Bishalgarh of Sepahijala district, have sought intervention of Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb for rescue.
The father of the victim Jaidul Hossain alleged that his daughter was kidnapped by a youth identified as Rafiq Islam of Kamthana area of the district but police have not undertaken enough steps to rescue the girl and arrest the accused.
Hossain stated on Friday morning around 4 am his mobile phone was ringing and Meher was asked on the other side to withdraw the FIR against Rafiq, otherwise she would be killed and immediately the mobile switched off. Later, it was found on the ‘true caller’ that the call had been made from Nagpur in Maharashtra.
In a separate incident, Gomati district police have launched an investigation against four persons for abducting a school-going girl when she was on her way home from a private tutor’s house at Udaipur. The accused Jamshed Alam, Rahman Hossain, Yunus Mia and Kala Mia of the crime were stated to be absconding.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old Amarjit Debbarma accused of raping a 14-year-old girl on January 13 last at Dakshin Maharani area of Mungiyakami in Khowai district was arrested on Thursday. The girl was allegedly dragged inside a deep jungle and raped by the accused. The victim was silent initially following the death threat and finally she told the incident to her mother and finally reported to police.
