Naxal Slain In Chhattisgarh
Dantewada (Chhattisgarh), Feb 20: A Maoist on whom a reward of Rs 5 lakh had been announced was eliminated and many rebels believed to have been injured during an encounter that followed a rebel ambush in Burgum forest within Aranpur Police Station limits of this district in Left-wing extremism-affected Bastar division.
“We received information regarding presence of ultra leaders in the area. Subsequently District Reserve Group platoons were dispatched from here. The insurgent whose corpse was found following late Saturday’s gun-battle was identified as Lakhma Sodhi alias Arjun who stood accused in 13 cases. A pistol, an IED and other material were seized. We are maintaining sustained pressure on the militants,” Superintendent of Police Siddharth Tiwari said.
