Naveen’s Body To Come Once Shelling Stops
Bengaluru, March 8: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday said the body of Naveen Shekharappa Gyanagoudar, an Indian student killed in Ukraine, will be brought back when the Russian shelling stops.
“I spoke to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and he said that Naveen’s body has been embalmed and kept in a mortuary. His body will be flown to India once shelling stops in Ukraine,” Bommai told reporters here. Naveen was killed in shelling when he had gone to buy groceries outside the Kharkiv metro station on March 1.
Naveen’s father Shekharappa Gyanagoudar has been demanding that his son’s body be handed over to him. On Saturday, Bommai visited Chalageri village and met Naveen family. He handed over a cheque of Rs 25 lakh to Naveen’s father and promised to give a suitable job to his eldest son pursuing PhD in a university.
