Karnataka HC Flays ED Over Bitcoins Scam
Bengaluru, Feb 1 : The Karnataka High Court has issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for restraining the brother of Bitcoin scam accused Srikrishna from travelling to the Netherlands on January 13. Sudarshan Ramesh, the petitioner, was restrained by ED from boarding a flight from Bengaluru on January 13 despite complying with immigration protocol. The petitioner came to India in August 2021 to visit his ailing father. During his stay in India, the ED summoned him thrice. Sudarshan stated that it was mandatory for him to have joined work in the Netherlands by January 19 as his tenure for staying outside the Netherlands expired on January 27, 2022.
He alleged that if he did not return to the Netherlands in the stipulated period, it would cause irreparable damage amounting to cancellation or withdrawal of his residential permit. Sudarshan also submitted that he has no link with the Bitcoins scam as he stayed abroad during that time. He also alleged that ED has found anything to link him to the scam. The petitioner also stated he is the only earning member in the family and his father suffers from hypertension and Parkinson’s disease.
