Goa Polls: Amit Palekar To Be AAP’s CM Candidate In Goa

Panaji, Jan 19 : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday announced Amit Palekar as its chief ministerial candidate for Goa.
‘Amit Paleykar will be our CM candidate for Goa,’ Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced at an event here.
Praising Palekar, who is an advocate by profession, Kejriwal said Palekar was an honest man and would be contesting the assembly elections for the first time.
Palekar, who belongs to Bhandari Samaj, came to lime light when he sat on a hunger strike demanding demolition of an alleged structure in old Goa. Later, the government took action against the builders of the structure.
Palekar’s mother was Sarpanch of St Cruz in North Goa.
Earlier, Kejriwal claimed that AAP was not indulging in caste politics.
He alleged that all the political parties had ignored Bahujan Samaj after liberation of the state.
The Delhi Chief Minister said the party had given a chance to new faces in this election.
He claimed that people of Goa were fed up with present political parties and leaders and considered AAP as an option.
The AAP has declared a list of 30 candidates till date for the assembly elections to be held next month.
