Four AIMIM MLAs Join RJD In Bihar
Patna, June 29: Four of the five AIMIM MLAs in Bihar on Wednesday joined the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
Leader of the opposition and RJD leader Tejaswi Prasad Yadav told media persons here that four of the five AIMM MLAs had joined his party.
The RJD was now the single largest party with 80 MLAs in Bihar Assembly, he said.
Yadav said his party had emerged as the single largest party in the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections by winning 75 seats, But the Bharatya Janata Party’s (BJP) tally increased from 74 to 77 after three VIP MLAs joined it in March this year.
RJD then won the Bochaha assembly by-election, increasing its tally to 76.
The leader of the opposition said that following the four AIMM MLAs joining the RJD fold, his party has now re-emerged as the single largest party with the strength of 80 MLAs in the Assembly. The AIMIM MLAs had joined RJD as they were impressed with the ideology of social justice the party represents, he noted.
The AIMM legislators who joined the RJD are –Mohammad Izhar Asfi from Kochadhaman, Shahnawaz Alam from Jokihat, Syed Ruknuddin Ahmad from Baisi and Mohammad Anzar Nayeemi from Bahadurganj seat. All of them have resigned from the AIMM and informed the Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha about their decision to join RJD. Now AIMM MLA Akhtarul Iman is the only member of the party in the Assembly.
