Panaji, Jan 18 : Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday demanded that an FIR must be filed against Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Nana Patole for his alleged abusive comment regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking to reporters in the city, Fadnavis said, ”It appears that it is the policy of Congress. While there is security breach in Punjab during Prime Minister’s visit, in Maharashtra a Congress leader says that he can abuse the Prime Minister.”
“It shows what Congress thinks about the PM. I demand that there should be FIR against Nana Patole” he said.
“There was an FIR lodged when somebody called Maharashtra Chief Minister’s wife Rabri Devi. But here a man who calls himself a leader and says that he can kill the Prime Minister and there is no action. It’s very bad. We will not remain silent,” the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said.
While campaigning in Bhandara and Gondia Zilla Parishad elections, Patole had allegedly said: “I can beat Modi. I can abuse Modi.”
As the video became viral, Patole claimed the statement referred to a village goon Modi, not the Prime Minister.
