Dream Homes To Remain Dreams: MP Jaleel Derides PM Awas Yojana
Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Jan 31 : AIMIM MP Imitaz Jaleel on Monday mocked the PM Awas Yojana and averred that the ambitious housing scheme lags far behind from its target. Addressing a press conference here, Mr Jaleel said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a joke of general public in the name of ‘Gharkul Yojana’. Mr Modi had announced that by March 2022, every poor family in the country would be provided with permanent housing.” “In the year 2016, 80,518 poor citizens of Aurangabad city submitted their applications in the hope of getting their own houses.
So far, the district administration has provided house repair assistance to only 355 beneficiaries, which less than one per cent,” he added. “This is a disgrace to the city. I will raise the issue in Lok Sabha,” he told, pointing that the housing scheme’s term is also coming to an end in March this year. Taking a dig at the PM Modi’s promotion for Awas Yojana, Mr Jaleel remarked that the scheme was touted as ‘Sapno ka ghar’ but it turned out as ‘Sapno ka ghar, Sapne me hi milega’.
