Don’t Need lessons From BJP On Tipu Sultan: Raut
Mumbai, Jan 27 : Coming down heavily on the Bhartiya Janata Party over the ongoing political row regarding the naming of a sports complex at Malad here after Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan, Shiv Sena MP and party spokesman Sanjay Raut on Thursday accused the central government of trying to change the history. “BJP thinks that only they have knowledges about the country’s history. Everyone’s is sitting down to write a new history, these historians are here to change history. We know about Tipu Sultan, don’t need to learn from the BJP.” Raut told reporters, adding:
“You have tried to change history at the Centre but you will not be succeed in doing so.” He added that when President Ram Nath Kovind went to Karnataka he praised the 18th century ruler in the state assembly saying that he was a historical warrior, freedom fighter. “Will you ask for the President’s resignation too? BJP should clarify this.
This is drama,” Shiv Sena leader added. Naming of a sport complex in Mumbai’s Malad after the 18th-century Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan has created a huge controversy. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) protested against the move, saying that the ruler persecuted Hindus and that his name was unacceptable for a public facility. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Tourism and Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray clarified that the official name of the sports complex has not been finalized yet. “Finalizing official names of projects comes under the purview of BMC and the mayor has said that official name of that park has not been finalized yet,” he said.
