Coal-Laden Goods Train Catches Fire In Jharkhand
Giridih/Dhanbad, Feb 9: Six wagons of a coal-laden goods train caught fire following which the train was stopped at Parasnath railway station under Giridih district and the flames were doused. Railway officials said that the special goods train was carrying coal from Khandudih to Hissar.
The train had started from Gomoh Junction at 5.05 AM on Wednesday. The railway personnel at Bholidih Halt saw smoke coming out from the wagons after which the control room at Dhanbad was alerted. The train was stopped at Nimiyaghaat immediately. Although the train had stopped at the station, it was sent further to Parasnath railway station due to the stop on the mainline.
Initially, firefighters sent from Giridih were unable to douse the flames, so teams of firefighters were sent from Gomoh. Much to the relief of the railways, the flames were doused and no major damage was caused. However, the train traffic movement was stopped due to the incident for some time on the rail section. Later the train was sent to his onward journey.
