Srinagar, March 27 : Brother of a Special Police Officer (SPO), who was injured in a militant attack in Kashmir’s Budgam district, succumbed to his injuries in a hospital early on Sunday, officials said here. The SPO, identified as Ishfaq Ahmad and his brother Umar Jan, a student, were fired upon by militants at their residence at Chadabugh area in Budgam on Saturday. Ishfaq had succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital, while Umar, who was critically injured, breathed his last in a hospital today. Ishfaq has become the second policeman to be killed in Kashmir in the past four days. On March 22, a policeman was killed in a brief shooting at Srinagar’s Zoonimar Soura area. The incident was widely condemned by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, besides other politicians.
